I have such fond memories of growing up around fabric, watching that delicate, light brown pattern tissue being pinned down, hearing the crisp crunch of heavy shears, and picking out just the right combination of prints for our next project. Mum could read, adjust, or make any pattern from scratch, so there was always a project underway or a new idea being pieced together.

Naturally, that love for making things stayed with me, and my heart settled firmly into quilt design and colour. But whenever Mum and I set out to start a new project, we ran into the exact same frustration: nobody in the big craft chains actually knew anything about fabric or quilting. Finding a longarm machine nearby was almost impossible, and wrestling a big quilt on a domestic machine at home was brutal.

So, we started hunting down the quality fabrics, tools, and longarm solutions we wanted for ourselves, swapping ideas and sharing what we knew with other quilters. Eventually, it clicked:

We needed to open the exact shop we wished existed.

We opened Jemima’s Creative Quilting in Craigieburn, and Mum and I have been running it for 26 years. Mum's love of sewing is still at the heart of what we do, only now, she’s behind our longarm machine, quilting for you. Meanwhile, I curate our fabric ranges and design original patterns (one of which ended up in a museum exhibit in the Netherlands).

Recently, my sister Jodi joined us to handle our backend systems and website, so we can focus entirely on what we love most: making quilts, helping you pick the perfect fabrics, giving advice, and building a real community around the genuine joy of creating something that lasts.
