The Design Story
Bumble Trellis is the print in the Meadow Flowers collection that takes the meadow idea in a completely different direction. While the other designs scatter flowers freely and organically, Bumble Trellis brings order to the garden, setting its bees and clovers into a precise diagonal lattice that covers the cloth evenly in every direction. The golden ochre ground gives it warmth and stops it from reading too stark, while the cream trellis lines and dark dot intersections add graphic crispness. Printed on Liberty Lasenby cotton, the geometric repeat cuts cleanly on the bias as well as on the straight grain, which opens up some useful design choices. We included Bumble Trellis in the range because a well-designed geometric is exactly what a collection of florals needs to let the eye rest and the piecing breathe.
