Wool Applique

Updated: Mar 27

Our newest Applique Quilt Pattern Flower Garden is a perfect showcase for wool applique.

Moda has a great product called Wool Fabric Scrap Bags. These bags contain scraps of wool fabric about 3 x 5 inches in size that are perfect for fusible applique. I had some pieces of wool that I purchased while at the Road to California Quilt show so I used these pieces and a scrap bag to make our newest applique quilt Flower Garden in wool felt. If you would like to co-ordinate your wool fabrics more then the Sue Spargo Wool Packs are ideal for this, these are made from 100% Australian Wool.

Each block has been hand stitched using a Blanket Stitch on Cream Hanky Linen.

The pattern for these blocks can be found here.

Ellana Wool Thread is what I have used to stitch these blocks which can be found here.

Embroidery Floss or any of the Perle 5, 8, 12 or 16 Threads can be also used to stitch these blocks. The thicker the thread the more decorative look you will achieve.

These blocks would also look fabulous in regular quilting cottons and in woven fabrics.

The quilt below is made using Moda's Bella Solids, these can be found here

Both of these quilts are available as Block of the Month programs. Pricing can be found here
