Part 5 Mystery Hexagon Quilt 2024

Welcome to Part 5 of our 2024 Mystery Hexagon Quilt!

We are going to create a new row to add to the quilt.

All instructions will use the following Mercantile fabrics by Lori Holt

Create your own legend to replace your fabrics with my own.

Hexagon Requirements

You will need to make the following fabric Hexagons

33                    Blue   

33                    Aqua

33                    Gold

33                    Pink

33                    Green

33                    Red

118                    Navy

15                    Cream

Make Shape 1

There are lots of ways you can construct this shape, this is how I constructed mine.

You need

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Pink hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Gold hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Blue hexagons around a Pink hexagon

2 single Pink hexagons

Use the picture as a guide to sew the rows together. Line up as shown in the diagram and sew all the rows together. These pictures have been turned on their sides so they will fit on the page

Repeat to make 1 each of the following colour combinations.  

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Aqua hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Green hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Pink hexagons around an Aqua hexagon

2 single Aqua hexagons

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Green hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Red hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Aqua hexagons around a Green hexagon

2 single Green hexagons 

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Red hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Aqua hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Green hexagons around a Red hexagon

2 single Red hexagons

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Blue hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Pink hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Gold hexagons around a Blue hexagon

2 single Blue hexagons

Sew 7 Navy hexagons together - twice

Sew 7 Gold hexagons together - twice

Sew 5 Blue hexagons - twice

Sew 6 Red hexagons around a Gold hexagon

2 single Gold hexagons

Make Shape 2

Sew 6 Navy hexagons around a Cream hexagon. 

Make this shape 5 times

Sew a Cream hexagon to the top and bottom of each shape

Shape 3

Sew 2 Navy hexagons together twice

Make the Row

Line up all the Shape 1

Sew a Shape 2 between each Shape 1.  Sew a Shape 3 on each end

Part 5 is now complete!

Sew Part 5 to to the top of the completed Part 4
